Scout

Success Story

Scout is a nine year old black Percheron-cross gelding who came to us as part of a large animal control seizure on February 6, 2008 from a property in King County. Mike Perry owned a carriage company and kept 18 horses on a mere five acres of mud with no shelter. After several complaints of abuse and malnutrition were filed with animal control, they conducted an investigation. They discovered one horse dead of starvation, causing an immediate seizure of the remaining horses. Scout is currently in training with Theresa Vandre. Although he is a sweet and gentle horse, he was severely abused. He is nervous about being tied and cinched, which Theresa has helped to overcome with a specific method to keep him from exploding. Scout is a great ride and does walk, trot and canter under saddle as well as being ridden outside around the barn. We look forward to seeing him thrive further under Theresa’s expert hand and finding him a forever home!

Update May 2009:
Scout has been adopted and is loving his new home!
