A Very Special Girl... Zelda

Zelda is a mare that came to us early December 2008.  She was abandoned at a local boarding facility and brought to us by Skagit County Animal Control.  She was started under saddle and has proven to be a favorite resident here at the barn.  She is suitable for a beginner rider and has been out on trail rides several times.

2011 Fall Update:

Due to personal reasons, John and Sharman Conner have relinquished their sponsorship of Zelda.  She is currently at our Woodinville location, Paradise Stables and will remain in training until adopted.

2010 Winter Update:

On New Years’ Eve 2010, we got wonderful news!  Two of our long time volunteers: John Serres and Sharman Conner let us know that they would like to sponsor Zelda for four months, in hopes of adopting them at the end of that time.

In Sharman’s words:

Why did we decide to sponsor Zelda?

From the day we started volunteering at PHH back in 2009, Zelda has been one of our favorites.   She is amazing horse – not only beautiful and sweet but blessed with lots of personality and spunk.  She is a great companion and we have always enjoyed working with her and just being with her.  When we found out she was being “retired” from the “Let Up for Kids” program and was available for adoption, we immediately began discussing making her a part of our family.    With the support of the PHH staff, we decided to go forth with adopting Zelda.    Having the support and blessing of the people that had trained and cared for Zelda for the past two years was incredibly important to us and a key factor in our decision-making process.

For now, we are keeping Zelda at PHH and feel very good about that decision.  She seems to be very comfortable and very much at home at PHH – it has been her home for two years, after all!    She is getting excellent care, frequent attention, and lots of love.

2011 Fall Update:

Zelda has finally found her forever home and has been adopted by a wonderful family!
