Lady Bug
![]()
Lady Bug was part of a January 2009 Skagit County seizure. She's settling into the barn slowly and we're hopeful that with training and lots of TLC Lady Bug will someday make a wonderful friend for a deserving owner!
Update April 2009:
Lady Bug is currently in a foster home working on a Girl Scout project. Her ground manners are constantly improving and she is learning that it really is ok to have her ears touched.
Update August 12, 2009:
Lady Bug is back from her foster home and started training the first of this month. Her trainer, Meghan Valenti, started with a week of ground work to get a feel for her and how she responds to different situations. We know from her foster home that she is broke to ride but the ground work really helps to build that extra trust before you get on that first time!
Meghan can touch Lady Bug's ears without a problem but she is not quite as trusting with others. Lady Bug is fine having her feet picked with routine grooming but she was not so sure about the farrier yesterday. Judging but her reaction she must have had a very bad expierience in the past so hopefully after a few uneventful trims she will become more relaxed.
Meghan did get on Lady Bug for the first time yesterday and it did go well. Lady Bug is definitly broke to ride and after a short tune up she will make someone a very nice horse.
Update October 2009: Lady Bug was doing well enough under saddle that we have stopped her training. She is one who's trust you must earn but once you have it she is a willing partner.
